Permission Numbers

Request Routing

When a request is made using the Permission Number website, an email notification is sent to someone that can respond to the request.

The person that receives the email notification is selected based on who has the right to issue permission numbers for that course:

  1. The first choice is to send the notification to the instructor of the class.
    • However, if the instructor isn't the main person responsible for issuing permission numbers for this class, the request will be sent to the department coordinator instead.
    • Also, requests that require evaluation of High School Math & English transcripts (as indicated by the student) are routed to Entry Advising for evaluation.
  2. The second choice is to send the email notification to the department coordinator. They will receive the email notification when:
    • The instructor isn't configured to be the primary person responsible for issuing permission numbers for the course.
    • An instructor has not yet been assigned to teach that class.

The student making the request also receives a copy of the email notification.

Request Reminders

Instructors should respond to your requests in a timely manner.

After 3 days, the instructor will receive an email reminder that includes a list of all requests that are still waiting for a response.

After 7 days, department coordinators will receive an email reminder that lists all requests that are still waiting for a response.

These reminder emails continue until someone has either approved or denied the requests.
